Jewish Donors: It Is Time For A Summer Game Of Dominos.
Dominos? Yes: You, we, and NYC need more dominos to fall so we can have the one-on-one vote we want in November against socialism.
Domino 1 has already fallen: Jim Walden has pledged to withdraw if September’s polls don’t support his race. Domino 2, Andrew Cuomo, agreed to this pledge — showing that he is putting NYC first.
But Eric Adams and Curtis Sliwa have not agreed to withdraw if they have no chance. Adams, and then Sliwa, are the next two dominos that must fall for NYC to get to the 1:1 race we all know we need.
Once — by mid-September — when Adams’ polls show no path to victory, his donors will dry up and almost certainly ask him to depart the race. In this scenario, there would then be only one other domino to fall: Curtis Sliwa.
Sliwa today has no decision to make if Adams hasn’t withdrawn or pledged to withdraw if not supported by the polls. But if Adams withdraws for the good of the city, the equation will be different. Sliwa will be the only remaining domino preventing a 1:1 race between Andrew Cuomo and the socialist Zohran Mamdani. Polls show Cuomo winning such a race.
So, Jewish donors, why would you give $1 to Eric Adams (or Curtis Sliwa) if they don’t pledge to withdraw in September or endorse the likely best candidate? Donating to mayoral candidates who don’t pledge to withdraw if they have no path to victory only prolongs the confusion and likelihood of a three- or four-candidate race.
Jewish donors — do not keep feeding funds to candidates (e.g., Adams) who do not pledge to withdraw if their September polls don’t show a path to victory.
Let’s put NYC first.
And: If you don’t want a Democratic Socialist of America (DSA) mayor, then why would you want a DSA Public Advocate, Jumaane Williams? Public Advocate Williams has been a do-nothing Public Advocate for six years, and if elected, would be one of the senior leadership faces of NYC during the 2026 midterm and 2028 presidential elections.
It’s time for action. Do not donate to mayoral candidates unless they agree to withdraw in September if polls show they have no chance.
And look at the whole ballot. Vote for Marty Dolan for Public Advocate. Let’s vote out the Democratic Socialists of America in NYC across the entire leadership team.

Dear Editor:
“I’m bored.” Now that the kids are safely back in the house, well-fed and showered, there are the two words — actually, one is a contraction — that will resonate throughout the house. “Read one of the books assigned to you for summer reading, like Lord of the Flies,” you tell them. This suggestion is met by rolling eyes and the retort, “I don’t want to read a book about exterminators.”
“Lie in the back and soak up some sun.” What? The only thing in the back are cars zooming down the community drive at Daytona 500 speedway rates.
You don’t have any time to deal with their mishagas. You’ve made them their favorite food, let them take 30-minute showers, and allowed them to sleep 14 hours (not the boys who have to go to minyan). You are trying to tackle the biggest problem of their return home — the laundry. Upon opening their bags, you are attacked by their malodorous clothes.
You notice, especially among your son’s collection, that he’s missing half of his clothes (“I dunno where they are!”) and that he probably wore the same T-shirt for 30 straight days. Forget about matching the socks — just throw them into the garbage. What happened to the expensive sweatshirts he had to have? “I dunno” is the standard reply.
You take out the huge Costco-size detergents, lock yourself in the laundry room, and spend a full day washing, drying, and folding the laundry. Then, of course, your kids inform you that there is no way they are going to wear those old camp clothes.
Of course, you are relieved that your son didn’t lose his tefilin — or maybe he brought home someone else’s pair with the same name. Oh well, you’re glad they are home, and it’s time to get a haircut. Bonne chance!

Clarifying The Alien And Sedition Acts
Dear Editor:
I’m sure Mr. Hecht went to a reputable law school, but I fear his law school’s syllabus may be a bit outdated. He mentions in the QJL of August 7 that some Americans held in Venezuela were traded for 252 Venezuelans held in El Salvador, who were sent there by the Trump administration under the Alien and Sedition Acts.
I’m no lawyer, but when I was in the 6th grade back in the 14th century, I wrote a report on those same Alien and Sedition Acts. The Alien and Sedition Acts of 1798 were a set of four United States statutes that sought, on national security grounds, to restrict immigration and limit First Amendment protections for freedom of speech. They were endorsed by the Federalist Party of President John Adams as a response to a developing dispute with the French Republic and to related fears of domestic political subversion.
The prosecution of journalists under the Sedition Act rallied public support for the opposition Democratic-Republicans, and contributed to their success in the elections of 1800. Under the new administration of Thomas Jefferson, only the Alien Enemies Act — one of the four acts that made up the Alien and Sedition Acts, granting the president powers of detention and deportation of foreigners in wartime or in the face of a threatened invasion — remained in force. The other three — the Naturalization Act, the Alien Friends Act, and the Sedition Act — were either repealed or allowed to expire by 1802, more than two centuries ago.
After 1800, the surviving Alien Enemies Act was invoked three times during the course of a declared war: the War of 1812 and the First and Second World Wars. Of these three invocations, the Alien Enemies Act is best known as the legal authority behind the internment of German Americans during both World Wars, as well as the internment of Italian Americans and, to a lesser extent, Japanese Americans during World War II. In March 2025, President Donald Trump invoked the Alien Enemies Act as his authority for expediting deportation of foreigners; this invocation is subject to ongoing litigation. I’m guessing that that last is what Mr. Hecht is referring to.
So, while I enjoy Mr. Hecht’s passion (misguided as I think it is), in the future he might want to clarify which statute he is referring to when he cites a statute.

Why Mamdani Would Be A Disaster For NYC
Dear Editor:
Mr. Hecht had to scrape the bottom of the barrel to find that story of the prisoner swap that President Trump negotiated. You know what prisoner swap was well reported? A Black lesbian WNBA basketball player, convicted of smuggling illegal drugs with criminal intent, for a Russian mass-murdering arms dealer. The President? Joe Biden.
Sometimes, bad deals are made to save American lives. Look how many thousands of Palestinian murderers are swapped for just one Jew by Israel. I cannot recall Mr. Hecht criticizing an Israeli prime minister for those “bad deals.”
Mr. Hecht is no better than Texas Representative Al Green — constantly attacking the President and never giving him any praise, no matter what. Like Al Green, Mr. Hecht would be in favor of impeaching President Trump right now. He certainly bemoans the fact that the President wasn’t convicted and incarcerated for any of the (fake) crimes he was indicted for.
The President has had a fabulous six months in office — bringing war-torn countries to the negotiating table and getting them to lay down their arms. Israel is no longer under constant rocket attack from Iran. None of that matters.
The Republican Party was founded as a response to the Democrat Party’s lust for segregation and slavery. Today, that racism and bigotry has flipped upside down. Now, with intersectionality — the Democrat flavor of the week — white men, religious Christians (not fake ones like Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi), and Jews are the target. While Mr. Hecht uses “Trumpians” as a slur, we are Republicans and patriots who are proud of the accomplishments of President Trump. What Jew proudly wants to be associated with the Democrat Party with the history it has?
This past week, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson announced that Chicago is on the brink of bankruptcy. There is no more revenue coming into the city to pay for all the Marxist goodies he has implemented. Major corporations and wealthy citizens have all moved out of Chicago, the murder capital of the US. Those on the government dole and living in government housing don’t pay enough in taxes to cover all the spending. So, where is the money going to come from? If Chicago cannot pay its police force, do you think murders will go down?
Open your eyes, NYC! Mamdani is going to wreak havoc on the financial capital of the world. A vote for Mamdani is a vote for the destruction of not just the city, but of the USA. President Trump has already federalized DC to stop the out-of-control crime there. He could potentially have to send in the National Guard to protect New York before he leaves office.
