Chabad on Campus of Queens brought the Let Here Be Light tour and Nissim Black to Queens College.  “It was really cool to meet so many different Jews on campus and enjoy music together,” said QC Freshman Danielle Weingarten

The fair featured “awesome booths,” added Freshman Paige Mayer, including mezuzah making, a tefillin stand with a Kotel backdrop, tzedakah box making, Jewish art, and more.  Referring to the highlight of the event, Jonathon Avrahami said, “The event today with Nissim black was amazing. Thank you for organizing these kind of events!”

As a new year on campus begins, Lilah Dubin loved “the opportunity to showcase Jewish pride.” Nissim Black performed outdoors in the center of campus on the Quad.  QC Senior Aaron Boehm really appreciated the “Jewish visibility.”

Students danced, sang, and fully engaged in Jewish pride without inhibition. “Thank you so much for the concert today! It was so much fun,” said QC Freshman Binyamin Alter.

Despite challenges on other campuses, Kimani Williams remarked, “I love the message behind [the festival] and how it’s unifying everyone.”

NYC Council member Jim Gennaro addressed the students with words of encouragement and solidarity.  He presented a symbolic $10,000 gift to Chabad on Campus of Queens.

“The amazing showcase of Jewish pride in the heart of Queens College came to fruition with student volunteers and much appreciation to Chabad on Campus International, Queens Jewish Community Council, the Jewish Federation of North America and the supporters of Chabad on Campus of Queens,” said Rabbi Shaul Wertheimer of Chabad on Campus of Queens.
