Dear Editor:

Here’s a quick math problem! Take an 18-foot, 1,500-square-foot KGH home and divide it by three adults and two children. What do you get? A mess! Wet towels strewn across the floor, enough water bottles to solve the water problems in every arid region in the world, computer cords entangled on tables and the floor, and enough Barbies to populate a Bais Yaakov.

Don’t get me wrong – I love my kids and grandchildren. My son-in-law fixed things I didn’t even know were broken. But how many times have I told my kids that the living room is a misnomer. It isn’t for lying on the sofa and talking on the phone. The pillows are not for leaning against (it isn’t Pesach). The living room is only a passageway to the dining room, which by the way, should only be used on Shabbos, and the kitchen, which is the TV room, as well.

Food, glorious food! Who would like a mega-box of veggie straws? I think that even if Yom Kippur were 48 hours, I would still not want this treat. How about Fruit by the Foot? That was my idea of a fruit in my kids’ lunch bags. Is anyone interested in mega-boxes of Fruit Loops, Cocoa Puffs, Frosted Flakes, or Corn Flakes? How about eating out on Main Street approximately 15 times rather than eating my food? The only foods we could all agree on (I hate grilled vegetables, peas, or beans) were raw carrots and peppers.

Honestly, I can’t wait until I visit my daughter in Israel and clean her house there. Until then, I have about a week’s worth of laundry to do. Yet, in all truth, I’m one lucky savta, mother, and mother-in-law.

Dear Editor:

I would like to first state that I am a very long-time reader of QJL, and a first-time letter-writer. QJL always serves as a great resource for me to read and relax just before Shabbos. Normally, I view my favorite sections and finish with the “Your Say” Letters to the Editor and never comment. However, I feel compelled to respond to some letters that I found factually incorrect and based solely on emotions – in particular, a letter sent by David Pecoraro. I do not know this gentleman, but I found his comments troubling at a minimum.

First, Mr. Pecoraro stated that President Joe Biden is “perhaps our most pious president.” I do not know if he is viewing history as it unfolds, but Biden is hardly pious. This president is currently being investigated for alleged actions with his son Hunter Biden for illegal activities in Ukraine. If he were so pious, he would not have seen fit to make sure that his inept son Hunter was sitting on boards of corporations in Ukraine. Pious? Quite the opposite: Biden is showing the hallmark characteristics of a greedy individual.

Second, Biden felt it was necessary to mention a “kitchen fire” when he finally got around to responding to help and calls from the people of Maui, Hawaii. This would be akin to referencing the death of a pet hamster versus the death of a family member. I knew that Biden was capable of making crude remarks on a regular basis when speaking to various ethnic groups including Jews, but this was not something I expected. Not only was it crude, but it was cruel and surely hurt those suffering from fire damage(s) and loss of life in Maui.

Third, Mr. Pecoraro noted that “President Biden actually attended the return of the remains of soldiers from Afghanistan who died.” Yes, he is correct; however, he fails miserably in addressing or omits the fact that this withdrawal of United States military personnel from Afghanistan will be seen as possibly the most ill-planned and embarrassing withdrawals in our country’s history.

Finally, with all due respect, Mr. Pecoraro seems fixated on attacking former President Donald Trump, and I emphasize former President Trump. If Mr. Pecoraro is living in the past and focusing on the alleged crimes being lodged against Trump by federal and state prosecutors as the bar for how great he believes President Biden to be, this amounts to nothing more than a schoolyard argument such as “my daddy can beat your daddy.” It is totally devoid of any real analysis of the current administration, and it excuses Biden for anything he does based on an obsession of Trump rooted in emotions and carrying the water for one side of the political aisle.

Dear Editor:

He’s a narcissist. He’s pompous. He’s crass and brash and he disgraced the office of the President through his conduct. He’s a bully. He’s childish and petty and impossible to work with. He violated the law by keeping classified documents and he tried to influence the elections. These are all valid claims against Trump.

And here are some things he hasn’t done: He didn’t tank the economy. He didn’t abandon servicemen and women and billions of dollars of military equipment in Afghanistan, nor did he shut down a major oil pipeline, destroying a source of income for thousands and US energy independence – both during his first weeks in office. He didn’t bribe and threaten business and political leaders of foreign nations in order to financially benefit himself and his family. He and his staff didn’t regularly ignore valid and appropriate questions from reporters virtually every time they presented uncomfortable facts or asked appropriate questions. He didn’t stumble over virtually every sentence that left his mouth. He and his staff didn’t spout bald-faced lies about the economy and his accomplishments virtually every chance he had. He didn’t use the FBI and DOJ as his personal henchmen to punish political opponents. He didn’t promote the radical progressive agenda to open the door wide and celebrate all manner of perversion. He didn’t open the door for the radical progressive agenda to legitimize all manner of crime that is plaguing our cities. He didn’t open the door to the unchecked illegal immigration that’s turning our cities into rat-infested cesspools, draining financial resources, and diverting much needed services away from veterans, the homeless, and the underprivileged. And he didn’t earn the lowest approval ratings of any president in the last 50 years or more.

Don’t support Trump because you like him. Support him because you don’t hate America. Support him because you don’t support the violence that’s destroying our cities. Support him because you don’t support constant lies. Support him because you don’t support unending corruption. Support him because watching your country being destroyed in front of your eyes concerns you just a little bit.

Don’t let your hate for Trump be stronger than your love for your country, your concern for your city, your community, and the future of your children.

Biden’s Brain

Dear Editor:

The latest polling shows that approximately 70 percent of Americans believe that Joe Biden lacks the mental capacity to be President of the United States. This comes on the heels of the President’s latest debacle of a press conference in Vietnam, where the supposed leader of the Free World stated for the umpteenth time that “he’s just following orders” and that he needed to go to bed.

I’m undecided as to what is more disturbing: The President’s cognitively compromised public performances or the shockingly high statistic that 30 percent of Americans believe that Biden is of sound mind.

Dear Editor:

Reports about the release of the latest Covid booster within the next few days came amid the sobering news that the double-vaccinated, twice-boosted Jill Biden contracted the virus for the third time in 13 months. But the First Lady is not alone in this, as Whoopi Goldberg, veteran of four shots, also contracted Covid for the third time.

In other Covid news, CNN, aka Fake News Inc., actually asked Dr. Fauci a probing question. (Even a broken clock is right twice a day.) After Dr. Fauci stated, “There’s no doubt that masks work...but I am concerned that people will not abide by CDC recommendations,” one of the talking heads on CNN gently reminded Fauci of the authoritative Cochrane Review, published in January, that contained 78 high-quality scientific studies, with more than 610,000 participants, that concluded that masks were useless in stopping transmission of the virus. Fauci, being the rat he is, responded with typical bureaucratic doubletalk of “Yeah, but there are other studies that show at an individual level, for individuals, when you’re talking about the effect on the epidemic or the pandemic as a whole, the data are less strong, but when you talk about as an individual basis of someone protecting themselves, or protecting themselves from spreading it to others, there’s no doubt that there are many studies that show that there is an advantage.”

Fauci never says which studies he’s talking about, because nothing is more authoritative than the Cochrane Review study, which essentially is a compilation of the results of all the mask studies done. Moreover, Fauci’s claim that masks work for individuals but not at a population level is utter nonsense.

So, we are left with a choice: We can go back to useless face diapers and endless boosters, or finally wake up to the reality that Dr. Fauci perpetrated and continues to perpetrate the biggest fraud on a gullible American public.

Fallout from Liberal

Policymaking

Dear Editor:

The problem with Democrats is they live in an imagined dystopian society where only immediate action by them can remedy perceived injustices. The issue with this approach is that the obvious consequences of their “remedies” are never contemplated ahead of time.

As recently as last October, Mayor Adams confirmed New York City as a sanctuary city, i.e., a city that will not enforce immigration laws for the benefit of importing illegal immigrants into New York City to the detriment of legal residents. Like how that works? Well, once the obvious consequence of Adams’ action played out and the city was flooded with illegals, he tried exporting them to the outer boroughs and other counties to no avail. This, of course, was an exercise in hypocrisy, as Mayor Adams previously lambasted others for shipping their illegals to his sanctuary city.

Mayor Adams kept his composure for a bit, but in June, he stated that NYC reached its peak and couldn’t accept any more. Now, he is trashing President Biden for not doing anything to alleviate the crisis the President created by opening the Southern border, even though Adams supported this policy for months on end. Hmm, who could’ve seen that one coming?

Then this past week, Shivanthi Sathanandan, a Minnesota Democratic–Farmer–Labor Party official who once vowed to “dismantle” the Minneapolis Police Department, is now calling for tougher crime laws after she was beaten with a blunt object and bloodied in a carjacking outside of her home. I’m guessing she couldn’t afford the private security that the members of the “Squad” who also called for defunding the police currently enjoy.

The old adage of “If You Are Not a Liberal When You Are Young, You Have No Heart; and If You Are Not a Conservative When Old, You Have No Brain” needs to be updated to “All liberals stay that way, till they’re bludgeoned in the face by reality, or worse, a tire iron.

Dear Editor:

When it comes to the migrant crisis with 110,000 asylum seekers coming to NYC, some of our leading elected officials remind me of Sergeant Schultz from the TV sitcom Hogans Heroes who said “I see nothing, I know nothing.” Never shy around a microphone or camera, Senators Charles Schumer, Kirsten Gillibrand, and Democratic House Minority Leader Hakim Jeffries never held a press conference to hold President Biden, Vice President Kamala Harris (Biden’s appointed Border Czar) and Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas accountable.

It is pure fantasy on their part to continue claiming that the southern border with Mexico is secure. The situation is growing even worse as thousands more are now also illegally crossing our Canadian border in the north. In contrast, NYC Mayor Eric Adams is a profile in courage. He recently said that dealing with this will cost NYC $12 billion over the next three years, and it could have a long-term, devastating impact on the Big Apple.

Dear Editor:

President Biden announced last week that he canceled oil drilling on more than 13 [million] acres of land in Alaska. OPEC has already announced that they are cutting production. Since Biden took office, the United States has become an oil/gas importer, instead of producing it solely domestically. Simple supply and demand economics tells us that this decrease in production will cause the price of oil, gas, natural gas, and heating oil to go up. These policy decisions are going to keep inflation up, regardless of whatever the Federal Reserve does. Everything is tied to energy; so, when energy prices go up, prices of all consumer products go up.

Also, this week, Mayor Eric Adams stated that New York City is being overwhelmed with illegals. However, he blamed Governor Abbott of Texas, instead of where the real blame should be: President Biden. Our pathetic and incompetent Governor Hochul wrote a letter to the White House complaining about the situation in New York City. Why can’t these cowards call out who the culprit of this problem really is?

Looking objectively at the state of our country, President Biden can whisper “Bidenomics – it’s working” all day long. The fact of the matter is that these policies are completely destructive to our country and the lives of everyday American citizens. Our costs are going up. Crime is out of control. Homelessness and drug use are prevalent throughout every major city – almost all run by Democrats.

I am so sick of hearing a Democrat talk about the President’s kind, warm nature versus Trump’s aggressive and disgusting personal behavior. The fact is that Joe Biden did some disgusting things to Tara Reid that were never followed up on, because we have a media that is in cahoots with the Democratic Party and will do whatever it takes to cover for any Democrat seemingly in a jam and attack any Republican currently in power. [See last six years.] There have been plenty of womanizers and despicable Presidents (mostly Democrats) who have done extremely shameful things to women. One was impeached for it. It is time we focus on policy. The Democrats are taking away more and more of our rights and our freedoms. We must save and take back our country before it is destroyed.

Wishing everyone a shanah tovah.

 Shalom Markowitz

Dear Editor:

I am writing this letter on Monday, September 11. I am employed by one of the larger federal agencies in this country. For the third straight year since President Biden took office, no email went out to commemorate the largest terrorist attack in our country’s history. While the lack of an email in and of itself is not a huge deal, it is disturbing when one considers the proliferation of mass emails that hits my inbox daily. A quick search today reveals no less than 50 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion emails this year informing me of upcoming DEI training, DEI celebratory events, and other emails warning of the evils of white supremacy.

In June, I was inundated with agency emails reminding me of the importance of Pride month, the Pride Zoom calls and all the celebratory Pride events the agency would be sponsoring. Whenever there are mass shootings, I will receive the following email: “The Department of _____ stands in solidarity with the victims of today’s horrific shooting. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all the victims of this senseless violence.”

There is one caveat to the mass shooting email: The perpetrator must be white. If the perp is any other ethnicity, no email will be sent. The current administration told us up front that they were obsessed with race and that DEI would play a role in all decisions made at the federal level. They weren’t joking. Commemorating 9/11 does nothing to advance a DEI agenda or strengthen LGBTQ+ rights, so it is discarded. Sad but true.
