This week, while the world was distracted over news about a homemade submarine lost in the Atlantic Ocean, revelations about Hunter Biden’s corrupt dealings and those connections to his father, President Joe Biden, have come to light. Even the compliant media is starting to demand answers that the White House is refusing to give. So now, everyone should be asking: How involved was Joe Biden with Hunter’s pay-for-play schemes that have occurred for decades?
IRS whistleblowers have made these new revelations about Joe Biden and his son Hunter in some of the most egregious abuses of power in recent memory. The allegations stem from texts released by a whistleblower that suggest that Hunter Biden threatened a Chinese businessman named Henry Zhao. The House Ways and Means Committee released a text from Hunter to Zhao. The message, from July 30, 2017, on WhatsApp, appears to show Hunter throwing around his father’s influence to get some kind of deal done.
“I am sitting here with my father, and we would like to understand why the commitment made has not been fulfilled. Tell the director that I would like to resolve this now before it gets out of hand, and now means tonight. And, Z, if I get a call or text from anyone involved in this other than you, Zhang, or the chairman, I will make certain that between the man sitting next to me and every person he knows and my ability to forever hold a grudge that you will regret not following my direction. I am sitting here waiting for the call with my father,” a copy of the text provided by the committee reads.
In 2020, when stories of Hunter’s dealings were brought up during the presidential campaign, Biden repeatedly claimed that he had no connection with his son’s business. On top of this, despite the myriad of evidence showing that Hunter is a serial drug abuser and a philanderer, and has committed numerous crimes from tax evasion to lying on a firearm background check, his father proclaims him the “best man he knows.”
Some in the media are all-in on the sympathetic father narrative to get Joe off the hook for his connection to Hunter’s crimes. Nicholas Kristoff of The New York Times praises Biden as a role model of great parenting. “While the federal investigation appears to be ongoing, for now I see no clear evidence of wrongdoing by President Biden himself,” Kristoff writes, “but the president does offer the country a fine model of the love and support that people with addictions need.” He makes no mention that Joe Biden has never recognized that he has a seventh grandchild. That is Hunter’s illegitimate child whom he sued to ensure that the child could not use the “Biden” name so he can pay less child support. Kristoff does manage to mention Trump several times in his article, basically claiming that Biden can do whatever he wants because Trump exists.
This all became front-and-center of the House Republicans’ agenda items again because of the sweetheart deal that was given to Hunter Biden for tax evasion and lying on a firearm form. After the abuse of power by the Department of Justice in going forward with an indictment of President Donald Trump, the dichotomy in which the DOJ handled Hunter Biden made it clear to everyone that there is a two-tiered system of justice in this country – one for Democrats and one for Republicans.
The WhatsApp message brought forward by the House Ways and Means Committee is just the latest evidence seen by the public of Joe Biden’s wrongdoings and his connection with his son’s corruption. In October 2020, before the election, Hunter Biden’s former business associate, Tony Bobulinski, accused then-Democratic nominee Joe Biden of lying about his involvement in his family’s overseas dealings. Bobulinski claimed to have firsthand knowledge of Joe Biden’s discussions and dealings with the Biden family. He provided evidence, including three phones, and stated that he would meet with the Senate and the FBI to hand over electronic devices. Bobulinski alleged that Joe Biden was directly involved in a scheme to make millions of dollars, referring to him as “the big guy” in an email. He disclosed text messages and emails as CEO of the company formed between the Biden family and China’s largest private energy company.
To help cover up Biden’s crimes, the Democratic Party and the media redirected the scandal to their chief rival, President Trump, in what became the first impeachment. Remember, the entire impeachment of Trump in late 2019 was over a phone call in which Trump was asking Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to investigate the very same corruption that the House of Representatives is investigating now. The Democrats may try to use the same playbook and accuse Republicans like Jim Jordan of “abuse of power” when they are trying to expose the most corrupt President in modern American history.
This is not the only area in which Biden is facing impeachment charges. The GOP-led House voted to send articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden to two committees. Rep. Lauren Boebert (Republican, Colorado) brought forth the articles, accusing Biden of “high crimes and misdemeanors” related to the handling of the US-Mexico border. Some Republicans opposed bypassing committees but reached an agreement with Boebert to move the matter forward. The resolution was referred to the House Homeland Security and House Judiciary Committees. Republicans on these committees expressed their intention to investigate Biden’s actions at the border. Democrats criticized the impeachment effort as frivolous.
With multiple indictments against Trump on one side and a bevy of evidence of corruption and incompetence levied against Biden on the other, the future of the American political landscape may occur more in the courts than in the voting booth. With the way Democrats and the media have acted against Trump for the past six years, everything is on the table.
