Last Sunday, a steady stream of neighborhood families participated in The Q Kosher Back-to-School Sunday Funday. Based in Fresh Meadows, the supermarket is the Queens Jewish community’s newest one-stop shop for a wide array of beautifully displayed groceries, produce, meat, poultry, fish, sushi, bakery goods, and weekly super specials.
From noon till 4 p.m., youngsters (and adults alike) braved a handful of showers that threatened to dampen the energy. Spirits were kept high with fun activities for all, spearheaded by the team from Canosmagic Inc. A bounce house was the star attraction for the kids, who enjoyed watching and showing off balloon creations of their choice. The children were overjoyed to have their faces or hands painted with tantalizing designs that guaranteed wide smiles.
Every child went home with a handmade souvenir of a Spin Art card. Fresh popcorn, slushies, freeze pops, chips, water, and grilled hotdogs and hamburgers (with a Beis Yosef hechsher on request) were plentiful throughout.
Special acknowledgement is given to Queens Shmira who maintained public safety for the event and The Q Kosher’s manager, Yosef Schwartz, and his family, who each greatly assisted. Visit this community staple at 176-19 Union Turnpike, online at theqkosher.com, or call 718-825-4200 to place your order.
