This past Motza’ei Shabbos, December 13, the Yeshiva of Central Queens (YCQ) hosted its 85^th Annual Scholarship Dinner at Old Westbury Hebrew Congregation, bringing the YCQ family together for an evening of unity, gratitude, and celebration. The event honored exceptional individuals who have made a lasting impact on the school while raising vital funds for its scholarship program.

Yeshiva Primary has been looking forward to this time of year for quite some time. They always have many fun activities and events planned for the Chanukah holiday, and this year they kicked it off with a bang.

This past Shabbos, Rambam students gathered at Colbeh for the Rambam Hotel-A-Ton, an immersive, uplifting, and unforgettable Shabbos experience filled with Torah, unity, and nonstop programming.

What could be better than reading a fun picture book during the school day? Reading a fun picture book to a younger student. Bnos Malka Academy recently kicked off its yearly Book Buddies Program. Ms. Carone’s third grade class spent some time reading books to the PreK for All (PKA) students. They prepared for the task by learning about how to engage a younger reader using the techniques they have seen teachers using, such as a book walk, asking questions, and pointing out interesting things on the page. They also worked on voice modulation and reading with expression. While the third graders felt big and important, they were also meeting the listening and speaking standards from The Next Generation Curriculum (NextGen).

As part of their preparation for Names, Not Numbers®, eighth-grade students at HALB went on a trip to the Museum of Jewish Heritage: A Living Memorial to the Holocaust. Museum educators led six groups of students on a 90-minute private guided tour of The Holocaust: What Hate Can Do exhibit. It was extremely moving and informative for the students and staff who attended.

At the Yeshiva University High School for Girls (Central), December has become a time for students to step forward and create real change, embracing chesed as both responsibility and joy. It was a natural move for YUHSG, with over ten active chesed clubs and a long tradition of volunteer work, both locally and abroad, to make this December Chesed Month at Central.
