T’shuvah, t’filah, and tz’dakah came to life throughout YCQ as students prepared for the Yamim Nora’im through meaningful learning, t’filah, and hands-on experiences.
YCQ families gathered for an uplifting S’lichos program featuring inspiring words from Rabbi Shmuel Marcus, Rav of the Young Israel of Queens Valley, followed by S’lichos led by Rabbi Nat. Students in Grades 1-5 participated in Kaparos using money, which they then donated to tz’dakah.

The JHS girls and sixth-grade boys traveled with their moros and rebbeim, respectively, to Flushing Meadows Corona Park for a special Tashlich program. In addition to reciting Tashlich and hearing meaningful stories, students wrote down two positive behaviors or areas of chesed or t’filah that they would take upon themselves for the coming year. Their reflections will be returned at the end of the school year so they can look back on their growth.

Rabbi Mordechai Finkelman, Mashgiach at Yeshivas Ohr HaChaim, addressed the seventh- and eighth-grade boys about the meaning of t’shuvah and the opportunity to grow, improve, and strengthen their relationship with Hashem.
Together, these experiences helped students begin the new year with greater meaning, purpose, and inspiration.
