Our Sages say that the Jewish wife and mother is the sole source of blessing in the home (Bava M’tzia 59a). While every member of the family has his or her unique role and responsibility to play, it is the Jewish wife and mother who has the power to not only frame what is happening but write the script. It is she who sets the tone in the home. What her family will become is to a large extent dependent on who she is, what she knows, and where she is going. This is a woman’s strength and the key to shalom bayis.

Democratic mayoral candidate Andrew Yang followed through on a campaign promise made just last week to residents of the Jewish community of Kew Gardens Hills – to return before Election Day. Yang joined Assembly Member Daniel Rosenthal, who delivered an endorsement early in the campaign. They began the afternoon greeting passengers at the Kew Gardens subway station and continued onto Kew Gardens Hills, where Yang spoke with community members, heard their concerns, and posed for photos. Yang reaffirmed his commitment to public safety. “Nothing is going to work in our city unless we and our families are safe on our streets and in our neighborhoods.” He vowed to tackle this challenge as his first task in office.

Following the success of the pilot year of the Purple Fellowship, Shalom Task Force (STF) is excited to announce the launch of the STF Young Leadership Board and Ambassador Program. “When our first cohort of the Purple Fellowship was wrapping up, we knew we did not want these students’ involvement with STF to end there. This new initiative allows for our future leaders to grow the skills they excelled in during the fellowship, while deepening their connection with the work of STF,” says Jeffrey Younger, Director of Communications and Program Operations.
