Shevach High School has successfully launched a new initiative for Shevach alumnae, focused on supporting its graduates in the shidduch process. The initiative connects young women who have so much to contribute to a good, solid home, based on the mesorah they have imbibed, both in school and in their own homes, to the broader world of shidduchim. The idea and effort are the brainchild of Mrs. Miriam Alt and Mrs. Esti Levenson, themselves Shevach graduates, who saw a need and stepped up to fill that vacuum. The initiative is under the guidance of local rabbanim who have endorsed their efforts.

This past December, the Shevach Shidduch Initiative hosted its first event, bringing together alumnae in a warm and thoughtful setting. At the event, the alumnae had the opportunity to meet with shadchanim – both local and from other neighborhoods – and reconnect with their high school teachers. With siyata diShmaya, dozens of well-thought-out dates were arranged through these efforts, which have already resulted in four engagements! The Shevach Initiative also recently hosted two “Meet the Shadchan” events for young men to broaden the pool of eligible prospects for our alumnae. The event was very well received. They are now in the process of planning additional events for the Shevach alumnae and plan to make these events a consistent part of their programming, with an anticipated two to three events per year.

Beyond shadchan events, they are also working on expanding this initiative to include shidduch education, as well as practical support such as resume guidance, to help their alumnae navigate the process with greater confidence and clarity.

As the Shevach Shidduch Initiative continues to grow, they look forward to sharing regular updates and involving the parent body. Community members are welcome to share ideas or get involved by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
