On Nov. 13, outgoing Pres. Joe Biden and incoming Pres. Donald Trump met in the While House for two hours.  Afterwards, both said they would cooperate to make the transition as smooth and easy as possible.  Lots of people were relieved when they heard that - but there was one problem.  Despite those assurances, the two teams were not cooperating.  In fact, some political observers said the Biden Administration was trying to sabotage Trump’s plans even before he was sworn into office.

If the Biden Admin. continues these policies, they could effectively wreck Trump’s plans to improve the economy, his efforts to make peace in global hot spots, waste tens of billions (or more) in an economy that’s already on the ropes, and lead to heightened global tensions, which already are at a boiling point – all of this before Trump is officially sworn in on January 20. Is the world ready for these problems? Are the markets ready for them?

Increasingly Likely?

“Many were hoping that voting the Democrats out of office would result in a major policy shift,” wrote The Economic Collapse Blog.  “It appears that Joe Biden and his minions have decided to greatly escalate the war in Ukraine before they leave in order to make sure that it will be exceedingly difficult for Trump or anyone else to bring it to an end.”

That’s one of the reasons fears that a third world war could erupt in a matter of weeks is being discussed openly by respected politicians, news analysts, and even by some world leaders.  According to a report on the “Mornings With Maria,” a popular news show on Fox Business, “The Biden Administration has decided they will sabotage (opportunities) for peace.”  The report continued: “The Kremlin also threatened to attack a new U.S. base in Poland with advanced long range missiles.”

It’s hard to imagine that Poland, NATO, and the U.S. could be hit by such an attack without a major retaliation.  In fact, the Ukrainian former top military commander said that World War III has already begun because of the direct involvement of Russia’s allies in the war.

Adding Fuel To The Fire

One would imagine that responsible people would try to keep tensions from getting out of hand, but that is not happening.  Actually, we’re seeing the opposite.  The French Foreign Minister, for example, said there should be no limits on the support the West offers Ukraine.  And he added that France supports Ukraine’s firing long-range missiles into Russia.

Immediately after long-range weapons were used against Russia, Putin warned that the war in Ukraine is becoming a global one.  And Putin also repeated an obvious threat that no western systems can counter Russia’s new missiles, which he claimed have a speed of 5,000 MPH.

There are still other signs that the war is escalating.  In late November, a senior North Korean general was wounded in a Ukrainian strike in the Kursk region, where more than 10,000 North Korean troops are deployed.  On a related note, various reports said the North Korean troops have suffered heavy casualties there in other attacks.

Anyone For Peace?

K.T. McFarland, a political commentator, author, and former Trump Admin. Deputy National Security Advisor, questioned the real motives of the Biden Administration and described the situation this way: Trump said he would negotiate an end to the war in Ukraine very quickly.  Putin said he is open to negotiations, and so did Ukrainian President Zelensky.  “So who doesn’t support peace?  Only the Biden Administration.

“It’s almost like the Biden Administration has decided to sabotage in advance any peace talks President Trump might have as he becomes president,” she added.

Meanwhile, other developments also point to increased global tension.  Biden has given approval for Ukraine to use long-range American missiles inside Russia, which some military observers warn is not only a serious escalation but also a provocation.

According to McFarland, “We’re creeping up the escalation ladder in the closing days of the Biden Administration.  What would happen if American made weapons used by Ukraine killed a lot of Russian civilians or if the Russians, in response, started firing their missiles and killed Americans.  There would be an outrage and we would be in a war which none of us wants.  But we’re stumbling toward that because of the incompetence of the Biden Administration.”

And Zero Hedge said, “The Biden Administration is scrambling to try and build Kyiv’s leverage on the battlefield prior to the Trump Administration taking office,” and that includes greenlighting long-range missile strikes on Russian territory.

They are Not Alone

Ukraine is fighting a very tough battle, but it has received and is still getting a great deal of financial, political, and military support from the U.S. and other countries.

For example, France approved Ukraine’s use of French long-range missiles against Russia.  The top French diplomat said, “We will support Ukraine as intensely and as long as necessary because their security” is at stake, and he added that France is not discarding any option, “including sending French troops into the war.” The respected French news publication Le Monde said in late November that there have been serious discussions about sending Western troops and private defense companies into the war.

Meanwhile, Britain is urging that NATO become more involved in the war.  According to a British military source cited by Le Monde, “Discussions are underway between the UK and France on defense cooperation, particularly with a view to creating a hard core of allies in Europe, focused on Ukraine and wider European security.”

There are reports of additional U.S.-supplied long-range weapons on Russian territory since the initial one.  And Russia is responding to those with massive drone and missile attacks of its own, which reportedly have caused extensive damage in Ukraine. In mid-November, Trump warned that the world was on the brink of WWIII.

As best I can recall, there has never before been a situation where one major party was accused of deliberately sabotaging the policies and plans of the other.  The fact that the world is at this point is further proof of the strange and unsettling times we are living in today.

Meanwhile, there are no signs that peace is imminent.  Some speculate Russia probably doesn’t want to end the war because it has the upper hand now; that Ukraine doesn’t want to end the war now because it has lost a great deal of territory; and some European countries as well as the U.S. are giving so much aid to Ukraine because they want Russia to be locked into a never ending and costly war.

Is the world pushing its luck?
