Yeshiva Tiferes Moshe’s fifth grade boys spent the beginning of the year preparing for the Gemara Mesibah. Their preparation included studying the background of Gemara and Torah She’b’al Peh. On Sunday morning, November 3, the fifth grade boys and their families joined with their rebbeim and menahalim to celebrate the initiation of the boys into the Yam HaTalmud.

The sixth graders at the Bais Yaakov Academy of Queens have been busy exploring the topic of volcanoes. They learned that a volcano erupts because of pressure built up inside it from rising gas-filled magma. To better understand and experience this concept, the girls headed outside to engage in a fun simulation activity. Working in groups, the girls added water and Alka-Seltzer tablets to film canisters before closing them tightly and setting them on the ground. They excitedly observed the erupting canisters and shared their hypotheses with one another.

The award-winning Hishtadeil Lihyos Ish Midos Program has begun at the Bais Yaakov Academy of Queens. The program was introduced at a first-through-eighth-grade assembly with an all-new, fabulously fun and educational teachers’ play entitled “Miri Pops In.” The talented moros did a superb job acting out this musical presentation. Rabbi Mordechai Gewirtz, Dean, began the assembly by depicting the midos of Kavod HaBriyos and Lashon Tov through Adam’s naming of Chavah, his wife. Mrs. Nechama Jurkowitz, limudei kodesh principal, then said a perek of T’hilim together with the girls as a z’chus for those who are in need of a r’fuah sh’leimah.

On Tuesday, November 5, MTA’s Sophomore Yeshiva Fellowship cohort and their mashgiach, Rabbi Pearl, had the incredible opportunity to tour the Passaic Eruv with expert Rabbi Micah Shotkin. Rabbi Shotkin, who has built eiruvim for communities across the country, explained the intricate laws of building and maintaining them.

Seniors Miri Granik, Rachel Rumstein, and Rina Shamilov had a fantastic experience at the three-day Schusterman High School Summit in Washington, DC, this past week, accompanied by Mrs. Audi Hecht, History chair. They joined 400 high school and college students in an experience of shared passion and interest in learning about how to advance the Israel-US relationship.

Student ambassadors greeted a record number of prospective parents and students from many metropolitan elementary schools at the Stella K. Abraham High School for Girls Open House on Sunday, November 3. The overflowing crowd heard from Mrs. Elisheva Kaminetsky, Principal, Judaic Studies; Mrs. Bluma Drebin, Principal, General Studies; Rabbi Yosef Zakutinsky, Director of Student Programs; Ms. Elana Flumenhaft, Associate Principal; and SKA Senior Avigail Goldberg.
