Minnesota Congresswoman Ilhan Omar claims her full name is Ilhan Abdullahi Omar. Yet records are now showing up to indicate that her real name is Ilhan Nur Said Elmi.
Omar is undergoing scrutiny by the FBI for immigration fraud. First, she is accused of changing her date of birth upon entry to this country to show she was 17 at the time, and not her actual age of 18. Had she been 18, she would not have been given automatic entry into this country on her father’s visa. Seventeen gives her minor status, which does allow for her to be included with her father. Entry under false circumstances is illegal.
Then she is accused of “marrying” her brother to gain immigration status for him. Her father’s real name was Nur Said Elmi. Her brother’s name is Ahmed Elmi. While married to him, she had two children with someone named Hirsi. Today she is married to Tim Mynett, a businessman. She finally divorced Elmi after a number of years.
When asked by Chris Hayes if she is related to her former husband, she incredibly answered, “Not to my knowledge.” That, of course, led to all kinds of speculation about whether that is tantamount to an admission of guilt.
Of course, there is the slight error in reporting her wealth. At one point, she declared being worth 30 million dollars. She then revised that figure to a few thousand dollars. How could there be such a discrepancy? It was a “recording accident.” Some little slip! From 30 million to a few thousand. Considering she is under suspicion for having profited from the Somali billion-dollar fraud scheme taking place in her district, that is something well worth looking into. The Justice Department is now investigating.
Omar was always a part of the radical left, one of the “Squad.” She despises Western values and has been a relentless critic of Israel. It would be a dream come true if she were removed from Congress.
Yet, I don’t see many of her colleagues coming to her defense. Where are AOC, Bernie Sanders, and Rashida Tlaib in all of this? I believe only the omnipresent Barack Obama had something to say on her behalf.
Yet I don’t see much of a chance of the investigations going anywhere. Was James Comey ever prosecuted for his role in the Russian collusion hoax? What about John Brennan and James Clapper? Nothing has come of all the allegations against them for the same hoax.
Senator Adam Schiff was censured by Congress for his interference with the Russian hoax and for claiming that he had “reams of evidence” against Trump regarding a phone call he made to the prime minister of Ukraine. It turns out there was not a shred of evidence that he had.
Yet, for all of that, he was rewarded by being elected in California as a United States senator.
So, while it would be wonderful to witness Omar’s departure from Congress and maybe even the country, my gut feeling tells me it’s just not going to happen.
