On Wednesday, January 7, a group of eighth-grade YCQ students participating in the prestigious “Names, Not Numbers” program traveled to Manhattan for an immersive educational experience at the Anne Frank Exhibition at the Center for Jewish History.
After studying Anne Frank’s life, students explored the exhibit, which includes a full-scale replica of the annex where she hid during the Holocaust. This experience provided a deeper understanding of the physical and emotional challenges the Frank family endured. To conclude the trip, each student received a copy of Anne Frank’s world-renowned diary.
This visit is one of many powerful lessons the students have engaged with regarding the Holocaust. They recognize that every survivor’s story is unique and significant. As part of the “Names, Not Numbers” oral history project, students have been conducting research and interviewing Holocaust survivors and their descendants to produce original documentaries.
