Colors: Blue Color

Last week, Yeshiva Ketana of Queens’ sixth grade had the privilege of welcoming The City of Ember author Jeanne DuPrau into their Zoom classroom. She had originally planned to stay for a 15-minute question-and-answer session, but she ended up staying twice as long because of what she called the “super good” questions coming from the students. Among those questions were at least two questions she said she had never been asked before, and another question about a mistake both she and her editor never realized existed!

This past Monday evening, HALB held a virtual Science Fair, displaying the independent research projects of its 8th grade students. There was a broad range of project topics, from testing for bacteria to engineering innovations. The participants were chosen based on the quality of their research and their prior in-class presentations of their results to their peers. The participants were:

Shevach is very proud to announce that two of their juniors, Elana Adler and Sarah Press, were named as National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists. From the 1.6 million students across the country who take the Preliminary SAT, those who score in the top one percent achieve the distinction of National Merit Semifinalist. These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million that will be offered next spring.

More than 800 talmidim, parents, rebbeim, families, alumni, and friends joined MTA to celebrate the learning accomplishments of all talmidim at its annual Yeshivah-Wide S’udas Preidah and Siyum. Held via Zoom on Thursday, June 4, this exciting event featured siyumim made by MTA talmidim on three different masechtos, a musical performance by Baruch Levine, divrei brachah from Rav Asher Weiss, and so much more.

Virtual classes and programs continue throughout the weeks at the Stella K. Abraham High School for Girls with exceptional chaburahs, art projects, cooking lessons, and book clubs enhancing the school experience.
