The MTA Sabermetrics Club (“saber” is an acronym for the Society of American Baseball Research) attended the Yankees game on Tuesday night, May 23. Aside from the fun of the game itself, in which the Yankees came back twice, finally tying the game on an Aaron Judge homer in the ninth and then winning in the tenth, the game presented the club with a unique opportunity to learn the analytical aspect of the game.

On Monday, May 22, HALB eighth graders premiered their original Names, Not Numbers© documentary. Names, Not Numbers is a unique Holocaust oral history documentary project in which the students collect oral histories of survivors and create a film based on the experience.

The 4th grade girls celebrated the generations that came before them at their M’dor L’dor program last week. Students spent the evening with their mothers and grandmothers, celebrating past generations who gave them the opportunities they have today. Everyone enjoyed a delicious dinner from Central Perk, and the girls did a beautiful job on their performance.  It was a wonderful and meaningful night for everyone!

The second annual spelling bee at YSZ was a buzzing event that took place last week. Students in grades one through eight competed against one another as they tackled increasingly difficult challenges in each round of the competition. The school’s ballroom was filled with a sense of unity and support as classmates cheered and encouraged one another. Congratulations to the finalists and winners. The yeshivah’s administration extends gratitude to Principal Rabbi Avraham Fridman and Assistant Principal of Curriculum Mrs. Susanna Yakubova for organizing and executing this wonderful event. A special thanks goes out to moderator Mrs. Ruth Konowitz, and Mrs. Anna Sabzanov, who decorated the ballroom beautifully for the occasion.
