Approaching its 50th anniversary, Laniado Hospital – Sanz Medical Center reflects on five decades of compassionate, Torah-rooted care. Founded by the Sanz-Klausenburger Rebbe, zt”l, in fulfillment of a vow he made during the Holocaust, Laniado remains the sole hospital serving Netanya and the Sharon region’s 500,000 residents. Laniado has welcomed over 250,000 newborns, has 500 beds, and offers care spanning all specialties, from birth to geriatrics.

Laniado’s conjoined School of Nursing trains 200 students each semester and produces some of Israel’s most sought-after nurses. Laniado has been recognized by Israel’s Ministry of Health as a “Teaching Hospital,” with physicians holding professorships and Certificates of Merit. Laniado is Israel’s only hospital whose staff has never joined one of the nation’s many hospital strikes.

As a voluntary, not-for-profit hospital, Laniado provides every patient with the most advanced, life-saving treatments available, regardless of age or ability to pay. In 1972, American Friends of Laniado Hospital was established, and to this day continues to raise crucial funds to keep Laniado thriving.

Several recent miraculous stories illustrate Laniado’s impact.

In addition to treating many soldiers wounded in the ongoing Gaza war, one Home Front Command officer serving at Laniado suffered a severe heart attack while on site. Within 12 minutes, he was undergoing life-saving catheterization. “It was truly a miracle that the heart attack occurred while he was here in the hospital,” said Dr. Ilan Rabie, who performed the procedure. The soldier recovered with his family, including his sister, a Laniado nurse, by his side.

This month, Laniado’s NICU experienced an all-time record: 5 pairs of twins under care simultaneously, plus a set of triplets. Nadav Chein, Laniado CEO, commented: “The new NICU we opened four years ago…is part of a major expansion of our Women and Maternity Division, which now includes 12 Delivery Rooms, a new Obstetrics ER, new Operating Rooms, and soon, a third Maternity Department. The trust mothers place in our staff is thanks to their dedication and professionalism.”
