Silence is a form of prayer
Acquiescence
To things that seem unfair
Man was given
The power of speech
But we must discern
When words can’t reach
Our dignity suffers
When we’re judged falsely
But silence brings reward
Eventually
Pharaoh’s divining cup
Was found in Benjamin’s sack
His own brothers accused him
He did not fire back
He knew he was blameless
But withstood truth’s distortion
Silence brought the Beit HaMikdash
To Benjamin’s portion
Aaron Ha Kohein
Was silent when
Two of his sons
Met their fiery end
He was not allowed mourning
Sorrow couldn’t be shown
Aaron’s silence brought blessing
To their souls and his own
Many misjudge
Ha Kadosh Baruch Hu
During the Shoah
HaShem where were You?
October seventh
Brought a new Holocaust
Why must innocent lives be lost?
Workings of the cosmos
Are not understood
HaShem decrees
We can’t judge
Bad or good
When a little one cries
Feelings come in a rush
We soothe and cajole
Saying “Hush, baby hush”
Your troubles will pass
In the blink of an eye
We will care for you
Our love for you
Reaches the sky
When your heart
Is broken
Someone’s wounded your pride
You might scream or cry
Or look deeper inside
A limit to the widow
Is set by HaShem
Give your tears to Our Father
He is counting them
Noble is silence
It makes trouble pass by
Let it go when you’re slighted
Fight the urge to reply
The injustice against you
Is accounted for
You may feel diminished
But will gain so much more
Hush, hush
The capricious ways of man
Are beneath you
Best let them drop,
If you can
And set your sights
On serenity
It will come with silence
For it is the key
