Dear Editor:

Israel’s massive prisoner releases for live and murdered Israeli hostages gravely endanger the country. Many past terrorists from both the first and second Intifadas have been released, including those who participated in mass killings of Israelis, many via bus bombings. Their knowledge has already been harnessed by Hamas, who took responsibility for the recent bus bombings in Bat Yam.

Thankfully, the timers were incorrectly set and unattended parked buses exploded at night, not G-d forbid, at morning rush hour. But as more and more terrorists are released the danger of mass attacks grows exponentially. The current lopsided deal clearly endangers every Israeli and must be revised quickly.

No, Joe Biden Was Never Decent

Dear Editor:

This letter is in response to Arlene Ross’ letter last week re: Trump’s post-election behavior in 2020. Ms. Ross, we can agree to disagree on Trump’s behavior then, but to use words such as “shameful” and “disgraceful” to characterize Trump while calling Biden “decent” is a bridge too far. What exactly do you find so “decent” about Biden? Are you a proponent of world peace? Well, his imbecilic foreign policy set the world on fire. Were you unhappy with the 1.5% inflation under Trump? Biden fixed that for you so now you can pay 25% more on basically everything. Were you a fan of Biden’s open southern border for four years to allow violent criminal invaders in and murder Americans such as Laken Riley? Perhaps then you don’t appreciate that illegal immigration was down about 95% just days into Trump’s term. Surely, when you call Biden “decent” you couldn’t be referring to his personal life. He had credible rape allegations against him by a staffer in 1993. His own daughter’s diary has entries about him that are so vile, they aren’t fit to print in this publication. He is Catholic, yet somehow has no issue with abortion on demand. He used his drug-addled son as an ATM machine to cash in on his political power. Biden was the worst president this country ever had. If he was as “decent” as you contend, he would have resigned after presiding over the most embarrassing botch job in Afghanistan and saved us all from another three years of his horrible, dementia-induced “decision-making,” the results of which will reverberate for decades to come.

Dear Editor:

I do not think I’ve ever been angrier at a couple of sentences Mr. Hecht has written. “Imagine if Trump had been President during 1939-1941. The United States would not have helped Great Britain during those dark days by giving them weapons through a lend lease program.” I’d like to know how he knows that? He made that up. I guess Mr. Hecht forgot but there were no wars during the four years President Trump occupied the White House from 2017-2021. Peace through strength, a doctrine given credit to Reagan, is a very powerful deterrent.

Mr. Hecht must not be a student of history. My high school World History class was quite a number of years ago. However, I do recall that Woodrow Wilson and FDR were both Democrats. What makes you think, Mr. Hecht, that Trump is going to be President for WWIII?

I am sure we all can deduce from what took place in the Oval Office between Zelenskyy and Trump/Vance what Mr. Hecht thinks. Yes, he is an ally. But, let me remind him that Ukraine is a very corrupt country. The United States has already given over $175 billion in aid to Ukraine. Allies, like Japan and Israel give back to the US in technology, intelligence and other ways that more than pay for the financial aid we provide. Trump is now trying to make a similar deal with Zelenskyy. Why should any country get our hard-earned tax dollars for nothing in return?

Of course, Mr. Hecht thinks like every phony journalist on MSNBC and CNN, that Trump is Putin’s puppet. Where have we heard that before? Yes, Russia is an enemy, but as Michael Corleone said, “keep your friends close, but your enemies closer.” It would be very difficult for President Trump to get a peace treaty signed with Ukraine and Russia if he kept Putin at arm’s length. After all, you catch more flies with honey than vinegar.

President Trump has an amazing ability to occupy the minds of the liberals. The progressives, aka socialists, on the city council are trying to do away with the NYPD gang database. Won’t that make NYC less safe if we get rid of it? Governor Hochul ran scared from Hamas protesters last week and didn’t show for a public speech she was supposed to give. She hides instead of showing a strong support for Jewish students in Columbia and Barnard. Instead of addressing these important issues, Mr. Hecht continues to focus only on Trump. One might conclude that Ukraine is important than the safety of people in NYC or fellow Jews in a local university being attacked. A reassessment of priorities might be necessary.

Pennies

Dear Editor:

No more pennies?  How will I pay for my trip to Disney World?  According to the WSJ, all I need is $4,266 for a 4-day stay at a modest (albeit not kosher) hotel for a family of 4.  The good news is I don’t have to dig under my sofa cushions before Pesach for the errant pennies.  The bad news is now storekeepers can round up prices.  What’s next - the nickel (which costs a lot more to make), the dime, or maybe the dollar bill? By the way, whatever happened to the two-dollar bill?

I feel sorry for all the IRS employees who were fired, but do you think the guy who reviews all the returns starting with the letter “H” is still there?  Give me a break.  I need to save money to pay the 11.5% increase that is coming my way in the form of a ConEd bill.  I can read by flashlight, give up cooking, do hand laundry and drip dry everything.  What I can’t do without is a Starbuck’s barista’s writing messages on cups of coffee.

What I really can’t understand is the popularity of the Skecher shoe that you can just slip your foot into.  Okay, I get it for the long line at the airport, but how about zippers on the back of your dress that you have to pull and tug on? What about the necklace that you spend a half an hour on trying to fasten the latch in the back? Obviously, those Skechers were created by the same guy who invented Velcro, and therefore, eliminated the bunny ear problem of tying shoes (although you might have noticed the number of untied shoes among adults has increased).

My apologies to the IRS employees, Velcro-makers, and ConEd workers.

Fake Jake Tapper’s New Book

Dear Editor:

I get that it’s 2025 and Democrat self-awareness isn’t exactly at an all-time high, but CNN’s Jake Tapper writing a book about the media’s culpability in covering up Joe Biden’s cognitive decline is about as ridiculous as Chris Christie putting out a book on healthy living or Sam Bankman-Fried writing a book on Jewish business ethics.
