America’s largest Jewish nonprofit dedicated to fighting poverty, Met Council, is redefining how emergency food reaches New Yorkers in need by placing AI and delivery innovation at the center of its operations. Through digital platforms, AI-driven logistics, and its partnership with DoorDash’s Project DASH, Met Council is expanding access, reducing wait times, and delivering critically needed food assistance to families with dignity, regardless of their ability to visit a pantry in person.
The Torah commands, “K’doshim tihyu.” Holiness is not reserved for lofty moments alone, but is created through our everyday actions. Among the mitzvos listed in Parshas K’doshim is the warning, “Lo seileich rachil b’amecha,” teaching that true k’dushah begins with how a person speaks.
Ephraim Berger welcomed the community to the Young Israel of Queens Valley on Monday night, April 13, for a Yom HaShoah commemoration dedicated to the memory of his father, Dov Berger, z”l. A survivor of the Holocaust who was deeply committed to education, the elder Berger’s legacy served as the focal point for an evening of reflection held both in-person and via livestream. The program opened with Rabbi Daniel Rosenfelt, Rav of the Young Israel of Kew Gardens Hills, leading the assembly in the recitation of T’hilim.
For more than seven decades, the Forest Hills Jewish Center has stood as a mid-century monolith at 106-06 Queens Boulevard. Its convex facade, crafted from warm crab orchard stone and brick, has served as a landmark for millions of commuters and residents alike: a physical anchor in a neighborhood once defined by the rapid growth of Jewish life in central Queens. Now, that storied chapter is reaching its final period.
