For the first time ever, The Home Depot of College Point made an out-of-store trip to run a kids program for the Chabad Community in Rego Park.

The event was coordinated by Rabbi Yaakov Horvitz, Youth Director of Chabad of Rego Park, and with the help of Manager Carlos Adorno, a man who really cares for the community.

The Home Depot Chanukah Experience began with a few words from Rabbi Eli Blokh of Chabad of Rego Park. Then there was a hands-on olive press presentation, in which the children learned how olive oil is made from scratch and got a deeper insight into the story of Chanukah. After a short prayer for the Jews in the Holy Land and giving tz’dakah coins in the charity boxes, the staff from The Home Depot took the lead.

Carlos brought out 100 kits of a Chanukah craft, tools, and kids’ Home Depot aprons. He distributed it all, together with the amazing team of his staff who joined to help with the program. The program was fun and exciting for all ages.

The program was located at the Chabad Youth Center, located at 99-21 62nd Drive, LL, a center that functions for many purposes, including Chabad Hebrew School of the Arts, teen programs with an elaborate game room, and more.
