Yeshiva Madreigas HaAdam in Miami celebrated their annual fundraiser dinner on Sunday, May 1.
Rabbi Binyomin Grossman, shlita, the Menahel of Yeshiva Madreigas HaAdam in Miami was host to a packed crowd of local businessman, klei kodesh, maggidei shiurim and tomchei Torah.
The Rosh HaYeshiva Horav Moshe Faskowitz, shlita made a special trip to Miami to participate and give chizuk to all the attendees.
Rabbi Faskowitz who is a world-renowned speaker dramatically crafted his remarks around the idea that “kedoshim tiheyu” begins only if one recognizes the holiness and the value of each and every Yid. If one truly is a part of the mamleches kohanim v’goy kadosh then he will do his all to promulgate the ideal of “Torah for all!” Only then will Hashem consider him “kedoshim.”
That means that regardless of the choices made in life for the future, being a ben Torah must be part of that choice. With Torah it will bring out the best in each individual. Without Torah there will always be the obstacles of a deep black hole, called failure and sadness, that is life’s constant challenge.
In the short period of time that Rabbi Grossman has led this marvelous new enterprise in the North Miami Beach section of South Florida, he has drawn together support from all walks of our Jewish constituency, a marvelous representation of the desire and commitment that Jewish Miami has for the Torah and spiritual growth of their beloved hometown.
“Amazingly,” said Rabbi Grossman, “until now there was no yeshiva here that welcomed and embraced the young man either after high school or back from Eretz Yisroel who wanted to learn part time or make a schedule that would combine and optimize his ability to grow in his spiritual quest and as a working earning member of the Jewish community.”
Combining both of life’s journeys successfully was a challenge that Rabbi Grossman himself mastered remarkably well. A graduate of Touro College in New York, Rabbi Grossman looked to his Rebbi the Rosh HaYeshiva of Madreigas HaAdam in Queens, Horav Moshe Faskowitz shlita, to provide him with the chinuch and “hadracha” that would best prepare him for a future as a ben Torah provider, who recognizes the balance necessary to meet the challenge of modernity vs. eternity. The shiurim molded a talmid chochom, the Halacha chaburos led to his s’michah over ten years ago, and the musar prepared him to adeptly recognize the steps in ruchniyus that one must follow to become a true yorei shomayim.
Young talmidim coming from Chaftz Chaim, Derich Etz Chaim, Imrai Bina, Merkaz and more etc. Joined him and all found comfort, encouragement, first-class shiurim, and resounding shmuesin that made them all excitedly pursue success as professionals and bnei Torah.
Hence Rabbi Grossman a true star pupil of this glorious yeshiva with the blessing of the Rosh HaYeshiva has taken upon himself the dream of building this branch of the “Novardoker Mussar Yeshiva” in his hometown of Miami.
In describing what made him choose to undertake this enormous task Rabbi Grossman spoke of the amazing accomplishments of Reb Chiya as recorded in Maseches Baba Metziah. The gemorah states unequivocally that one who does the preparatory work, the leg work, the administrative moves for a yeshiva and at the same time engages in teaching the talmidim Torah is far superior to one who may be the academic scholar and the genius in learning but is removed from the sacrifices that need be made to be “mezake es harrabim.”
Added Rabbi Grossman, “The gratitude that I have when I consider the privilege that Hashem has given me that I might serve you all and bring a higher and stronger measure of Torah and provide a completely new opportunity for the young people who will be so much happier in a yeshiva environment, is on my lips every day when I say “Mizmor l’todah.”
“Send your young men to our yeshiva. The shiurim led by Rabbi Medresh are a joy, delivered with the clarity and warmth that satisfies the soul and inspires the neshoma. Rabbi Noach Peled’s genius and insight has given all those who learn yoreh deah for smicha the keenest understanding of these critical topics that set the tone for Halacha for these young men for the rest of their lives.”
And as is the custom in Madreigas HaAdam in Queens the yeshiva consciously works with the talmidim to help develop superior communicative skills, vocabulary and public speaking talent.
Yeshiva Madreigas HaAdam in Miami welcomes boys from all over the country to come and enjoy the ambiance of a wonderful dormitory, a happy student body and a “leibedik comraderie” with all those in yeshiva. Most importantly they will have a Rebbi. They will have an anchor in ruchniyus rather than be a lonely, non-associated former yeshiva boy.
There is nothing like yeshiva that brings out the best in these young men.
