On the fifth night of Chanukah, a public menorah-lighting took place on the Queens College campus, hosted by Chabad On Campus of Queens and the QC Hillel.
Rabbi Shaul Wertheimer of Chabad noted that what makes Chanukah unique is pirsumei nisah, the commandment to publicize the miracles. Rabbi Wertheimer encouraged the students to look for the miracles in their lives, and to share them with others.
“After many months of virtual and hybrid gatherings, it was truly inspirational to see our community come together in-person to celebrate and share Jewish joy,” said Mrs. Jenna Citron, Director of the QC Hillel.
“The message of Chanukah is to always increase in light,” said Rabbi Wertheimer, “and we are excited and grateful for this opportunity.”
