This past Shabbos afternoon, Parshas Shoftim, took on special significance at Beis HaMidrash Congregation Chasam Sofer, the Kew Gardens Hills shtiebel that remains an everlasting legacy to HaRav Avraham Shalom Yeshayah HaLevi Wiesel zt”l. Congregants celebrated a milestone 11 years in the making as a siyum on Maseches Megillah was conducted during shalosh seudos.
The shiur which began as a project of Rabbi Dr. Avrohom Goldstein zt”l, the shul’s indelible Rosh HaKahal, continued for nearly 40 years under his leadership. Together, the group completed various masechtos, but never reached the conclusion of Maseches Megillah before Rabbi Goldstein’s passing.
Conducted in the path of his revered rebbe, HaGaon HaRav Yosef Dov Soloveitchik zt”l, the shiur continues to thrive as a blessing to Rabbi Goldstein’s efforts on behalf of Chasam Sofer. The joyous festivities attracted much of the k’hilah, along with men and women from the broader community. You can join the shiur given at the shul each Shabbos afternoon prior to Minchah.
