MTA talmidim, rebbeim, and faculty had a blast during Color War on Wednesday, March 30, and Thursday, March 31! Seniors dominated, as the Blue Team with a theme of Gibor K’Ari, Juniors crushed it as the Red Team with a theme of Ratz KiTzvi, Sophomores fought hard as the Green Team with a theme of Kal K’Nesher, and Freshmen experienced their first-ever MTA Color War as the Black Team with a theme of Az K’Namer.

The Queens community was treated on Sunday, March 27, to the annual Shevach High School production at Townsend Harris High School. The play, “Sarah with an ‘H’,” was complete with drama, interspersed with original dances, choir, and ensembles. The girls sparkled in their production. The unique and striking costumes, and the eye-catching scenery and props, all portrayed the theme very well. The audience was regaled with an enjoyable performance that not only entertained, but simultaneously imparted important life lessons.

Among the honorees this year at the upcoming Bnos Malka Academy Dinner will be Mrs. Rivky Babad. As the assistant principal for the preschool and elementary school, since 2007, Mrs. Babad has played a pivotal role in the growth and success of the school.

What is the history of YCQ’s Sunday Learning Program?

The Yeshiva of Central Queens Sunday Learning Program has been running for approximately 17 years. We have adapted the program with the changing times. The central idea behind it is that as Jews, although we live in galus, where Sunday is an “off day,” for us at YCQ there is no such thing as a day off from Torah.

YSZ High School Girls volunteered at Tomchei Shabbos of Queens this week to help package food for those less fortunate before Pesach. Chesed is an essential Torah value. Some may believe that there are only givers and takers in life. These girls realized that giving to others feels so good, it almost felt like taking!
