If you live in Queens, the Five Towns, or better areas of Brooklyn, and you own a piano and play it frequently or even occasionally, then you are probably well acquainted with Mr. Jesse Gitnik, our community’s very own piano tuner/technician. “Hashem, how many are my tormentors! The great rise up against me. The great say of my soul, There is no deliverance for him from G-d, Selah. But You, Hashem, are a shield about me, my glory, and He Who raises up my head. (T’hilim 3:2-4)
The Kew Gardens Hills community came out in a strong display of appreciation to the police officers of the 107th police precinct. Both the daytime and evening shifts, over 170 members of the local police force, were treated to meals provided by the New Pizza Professor. Jennifer Martin, President of the Kew Gardens Hills Civic Association (KGHCA), and Alan Sherman co-coordinated the event. Sherman noted, "It was quite easy to put together the funds for the event. Our community was eager to donate and show their support of the NYPD, which serves and protects their families." Deputy Inspector Scott Henry was moved by the care shown to his officers. "It is wonderful to know that we have the community's backing each time to head outside." Yaakov Serle, co-publisher of the Queens Jewish Link, explained to the officers, "We really appreciate your efforts; the job you do is very special."
