The National Council of Young Israel (NCYI) announced this week that Avi Frier of Hollywood, Florida, has been named its new National Program Director. In his new role, Frier will provide training and support for Youth and Program Directors at Young Israel branches across the United States.
Assembly Member Jenifer Rajkumar leads a district that includes nearby areas including Forest Park, Glendale, Liberty Park, and Woodhaven. Her eagerness to bring more services to her constituents led the Assembly Member to take a detailed tour of the Margaret Tietz Nursing and Rehabilitation facility last Tuesday, where she was deeply impressed with the level of care given to residents.

Rav Dessler brings a mashal about the spiritual progress and development of a tzadik versus a baal t’shuvah. The tzadik advances in his service of Hashem bit by bit, like climbing the rungs of a ladder. The baal t’shuvah, on the other hand, is like a cripple who doesn’t have the arms and legs with which to climb. From his lowly place, watching the raging waters rise up from below, he cries out for help. At that point, Hashem comes and raises him up to great heights.
