In celebration of Yom Yerushalayim, the Yeshiva of Central Queens (YCQ) hosted a thrilling and educational Color War for Junior High School students. Over the course of several days, students engaged in spirited competition, creative expression, and meaningful team-building activities.

The Color War began on Friday with a surprise breakout in the schoolyard. The teams were announced, with blue representing Malchus (Kingship and Leadership), and yellow representing Kehunah (Priesthood and Holiness), two fundamental concepts connected to Yerushalayim.

After a few opening games on Friday afternoon, programming continued on Monday and Tuesday with a lineup of activities including a high-energy Apache Relay, team stomps, original skits, spirited cheers, creative banners, and original songs. The level of enthusiasm, creativity, and sportsmanship displayed by the students was remarkable.

Although the students enjoyed the three days of activities, this was more than just a fun time. From athletes to artists, techies to Torah bowlers, every single student had the chance to apply his or her individual talents and strengths. Everyone was given the opportunity to shine and develop his or her personal and collaborative skills alongside their leadership abilities. Color War truly enabled students to develop a healthy sense of self-worth and confidence that will help them mature into successful b’nei and b’nos Torah.

Many thanks to Mr. Jacob Grossman for organizing the best Color War to date. His vision and dedication, along with the support of countless teachers and staff members, made these incredible events possible.

Recognition is also due to the student leaders who played a pivotal role in guiding their teams. Blue Team: Benjamin Natanov and Leah Vaysband served as Generals, Dani Berkowitz and Anael Rachmanov as Lieutenant Generals, and Berel Baturov and Daniella Yuhananov as Captains. Yellow Team: Ilan Zelcer and Zoe Elias served as Generals, Jacob Gadol and Yael Gavriyelov as Lieutenant Generals, and Eli Kogan and Avital Davydov as Captains.

Congratulations to the Blue Team on their win!
