The celebration of Chanukah at Queens Hebrew Academy kicked off weeks before the holiday, with the school adorned in festive decorations reflecting the spirit of the season. Teachers introduced students to the history, the halachos (laws), and minhagim (traditions) of Chanukah, enriching their understanding of the holiday.

In the lower school, students participated in a grade-wide Chanukah Chidon, where they competed to showcase their knowledge of the holiday. The winning classes were rewarded with a pizza party! Students also enjoyed sufganiyot (jelly doughnuts), latkes (potato pancakes), candle making, and visits to the Jewish Children’s Museum.

Middle school STEAM classes explored the chemical changes that occur when boiling substances, culminating in the frying of potatoes in hot oil to make delicious latkes.

On the final day of Chanukah, students gathered for a lively chagigah (celebration), with MC iMoveWithNaz leading the festivities. A great time was had by all, making the holiday celebrations at Queens Hebrew Academy both meaningful and fun!
