With profound sadness, the Orthodox Union joins the entire Jewish community in mourning the passing of Moreinu HaRav Gershon Edelstein, zt”l, at the age of 100. Rav Gershon was recognized as the preeminent leader of the Haredi community in Israel and served as the Rosh Hayeshiva of the Ponevezh Yeshiva in Bnei Brak, where he taught for more than 70 years.

WARSAW, Poland – In less than 18 years since it started rebuilding a local Jewish community, Chabad of Poland’s community here thrives, less than a block from the rail stop where the Jews of Warsaw and its environs were loaded onto trains bound for the death camps.

Sharing in the feeling of simchah was a devoted team from Emet Outreach, who were there to lend support and inspirational Shabbos programming. “There was a great feeling of unity and connection at the JSA Shabbaton,” said Rabbi Akiva Rutenberg, Emet Co-Founder and Director. “The JSA leadership planned the Shabbaton so meticulously and we were happy to provide guidance along the way. We look forward to sharing the beauty of Shabbos with them every year.”
