On Sunday evening, the eighth night of Chanukah, Chabad On Campus of Queens hosted a public menorah lighting in front of Soy Sauce on Main Street. Despite the chilly rain, there was dancing on Main Street, celebrating the miracles of Chanukah!

NYS Assemblyman Daniel Rosenthal was in attendance, and wrote on Facebook: " A public menorah lighting on Main Street never felt more important. Thank you Rabbi Wertheimer of Queens College Chabad for organizing."

Also in attendance was NYC Councilman Rory Lancman, who tweeted: "Take that, anti-Semitism!"

Rabbi Shaul Wertheimer of Chabad on Campus of Queens stated that "The Lubavitcher Rebbe ob"m noted that every human act must contribute a measure of light to illuminate the 'outside' -- as indicated by the Chanukah lights which are placed at the entrance of the home, outside. The prayer of 'V'al Hanissim' also teaches us that although we must do what we can in a natural way, we must at the same time realize that the essential thing is to have absolute trust in Hashem, for success is only from Hashem."
