Hyper-partisanship has claimed yet another victim – this time a person who – in normal times – would be considered a tzadik, a saintly man. And while the vultures crow over their misbegotten victory, we are all the sadder for it.
President Trump remains the greatest ally Israel and the Jewish people have ever had in the White House. In stark contrast, the Ayatollahs of Iran represent one of the most devious and dangerous regimes on Earth. They are not just ideological adversaries—they are the architects of terrorism through their proxies: Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis. They’ve fueled unrest on American college campuses and across the globe, all under the guise of “resistance.”
Apparently, it is one of the most important mitzvos. There is no other mitzvah for which we have an absolute annual Torah-level obligation to hear directly from the Torah, and one of only six that we are required to think about at least once a day. But frankly, at least from the perspective of Jewish outreach, it is one of the most difficult for us to relate to. We are required to remember what Amaleik did to us as we left Egypt, and therefore never to forget to exterminate the nation of Amaleik from under the Heavens. No matter that according to most poskim the nation of Amaleik no longer exists as a discernible entity, after the extensive transfers of population by Sancheiriv; no matter that in virtually any practical case of meeting an actual Amalekite we would refrain from performing this mitzvah due to the enmity and anti-Semitism it would cause; no matter how difficult this would be for virtually any Jew to perform – the obligation to concentrate on this mitzvah remains in place.
President Donald Trump reached his 100th day of his second term on April 29, 2025, with a series of bold accomplishments. On May 1, I had the privilege of hearing the President speak at the White House Rose Garden during America’s National Day of Prayer, attended by most of the Cabinet.
Sometimes you wonder what Hashem makes of all this.
On September 20 ,2024, at a gathering in Washington, D.C. entitled, “Fighting Anti-Semitism in America,” President Trump said, “You have a big protector in me.” In the first 60 days of his second term, he has fulfilled his campaign pledge in an unprecedented fashion. With the arrest of Mahmoud Khalil, the pro-Hamas Columbia University protester, the President has made good on his promise to crack down on the out of control demonstrations taking over college campuses in America.
