The “New Year of the Trees” was celebrated in true SKA style on Monday, February 6, with a shiur, seder, plantings and food! Reflecting on the natural world and participating in environmental activities made Tu BiSh’vat at the Stella K. Abraham High School for Girls so meaningful.

For Ariel Kaylokov and 18 other students in Emet’s Men’s Division, winter break in Arizona was a transformative experience. “This trip really opened my eyes to the importance of religion and helped me see how I could incorporate it into my daily life,” he shared. The annual excursion combined concentrated Torah study, exciting activities, and opportunities for friendship. Led by the dynamic team of Rabbi Mordechai Kraft, Rabbi Michael Fuzaylov, Rabbi Yakov Musheyev and Rabbi Ari Hertz, the trip was geared towards those who have completed Emet’s Fellowship program and are ready for more advanced learning.

Every year, one of the major highlights of the MTA experience is the arrival of exchange talmidim from Yeshivat Mekor Chaim. An added energy pervades the halls of MTA when the talmidim of Mekor Chaim join the yeshivah at the beginning of the Spring Semester every year.

The dream has remarkably become reality: Yeshiva Tiferes Moshe held a celebration marking the historic opening of their Junior High School building this past week. Following many months of construction, logistical planning, and fundraising, the seventh and eighth graders proudly moved into their new facility at the corner of Audley Street on Beverly Road in Kew Gardens, just a few short blocks from the main campus.

On Monday, children from 3-year nursery in Lev Chana through 8th grade in HALB celebrated Tu BiSh’vat. Whether they tasted dried fruits, planted seeds, or baked cookies, they got to enjoy the excitement of the holiday. Thank you to the Ivrit teachers for making it such a fun and memorable day!

In early January, a group of twelve Central students traveled to Israel for a month to live and learn in Ulpanat Lachish, in the south of Israel, as a part of Central’s Ba’aretz program. While there, these students will have the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in Israeli culture. Those traveling include sophomores Amy Morris, Reema Gampel, and Serah Tolchin, as well as juniors Aviva Kessock, Tiferet Tuchman, Debra Burger, Keira Kahn, Gitty Kahn, Leora Strass, Meira Schuck, Talia Frankel, and Abby Keehn.
