When we are faced with sorrows, we call out and turn to Hashem and His Torah, as David HaMelech stated, “Tzarah v’yagon emtza u’v’sheim Hashem ekra–I will find troubles and sorrows, and I will call out in Hashem’s name” (T’hilim 117:13).  When everything is going well, it is easy to turn to Hashem and thank Him for His goodness.  The real test comes when we run into rough waters.  How we do react to yisurin – life’s difficulties?  We turn straight to Hashem!

On Thursday, October 15, two of our local Queens educational institutions – Fresh Meadows’ Yeshiva Ketana of Queens and Kew Gardens’ Yeshiva Tiferes Moshe – were issued inaccurate summonses for “not complying with NYS EO #202.6 and NYSDOH guidelines by operating a school in a red/orange zone.” The duo from the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene would not listen to a rationalization that the schools were in their respective yellow zones and allowed to operate.

Rosenblum’s of Kew Gardens has tenaciously served its close-knit community for nearly half a century. Neighborhood residents are widely grateful for the kosher grocery’s conveniences and welcomingly show their patronage. With no availability for a parking lot, the few municipal parking spaces dotted along Lefferts Boulevard have had to make do for its customer base. Over the years, the metered spaces have been the subject of varied contention, along with the Q10 bus stop just prior to Metropolitan Avenue.
