Due to a rash of car break-ins and thefts, Queens Shmira is providing the following tips to safeguard your vehicle, in coordination with NYPD’s 107th Precinct, under the stalwart leadership of Commanding Officer Deputy Inspector Kevin Chan:
We are issuing a warning to residents in the neighborhoods of Kew Gardens Hills, Hillcrest, Fresh Meadows, Briarwood, and Jamaica Estates about vehicles being broken into and stolen. Vehicles are stolen for a variety of reasons, including theft for parts, insurance fraud, retagging, exporting, and joy riding.
Help prevent theft and damage to your vehicle by following these tips: Always lock your vehicle, never leave the keys in the ignition, never leave property in your vehicle, park in high-traffic and well-lit areas when possible, and enroll in NYPD anti-theft programs such as VIN Etching, Operation ID, and Combat Auto Theft.
The community is reminded to stay vigilant and, in the event of an emergency, first call 911, then immediately dial our 24/7 emergency hotline at 718-329-4444. Queens Shmira is actively seeking sponsorships for our highly regarded Shabbos patrols, where armed and trained non-Jewish security personnel diligently observe shuls and streets throughout the Jewish communities of Queens for irregularities on Shabbos using our marked patrol fleet. Please call our office at 718-799-4446 to make a contribution, or Zelle/QuickPay This email address is being protected from spambots.
