Yeshiva Tiferes Moshe’s fifth-grade boys spent the beginning of the year preparing for the Gemara Mesibah. Their preparation included studying the background of Gemara and Torah SheB’al Peh. On Sunday morning, October 22, the fifth-grade boys and their families joined with their rebbeim and menahalim to celebrate the initiation of the boys into the Yam HaTalmud.
Following Rabbi Pacht’s welcoming the families and talmidim, Rabbi Shmuel Marcus, mara d’asra of the Young Israel of Queens Valley, delivered an inspiring speech for both the talmidim and their parents. The rav spoke about the mesorah given over by Torah SheB’al Peh, and the boys being the next link in the mesorah. Rabbi Marcus wished the boys, their parents, and the rebbeim much hatzlachah as they continue their career in learning.
Rabbi Pacht called up each boy and, together with his rebbi and Rabbi Marcus, presented him with his very first gemara. Those gathered jointly celebrated this milestone with a kumsitz and beautiful, delicious refreshments. The achdus and heartfelt feelings exhibited by the talmidim were a highlight of the day.
