Over 60 high school girls from across Queens came together on Wednesday, September 9, for the kickoff of 4G Queens, an exciting start to what promises to be another meaningful year.

4G is a growing program throughout the tri-state area that gives high school girls the opportunity to choose to learn and connect outside of their regular school setting. Through weekly programs, chaburas, events, and relationships with advisors and mentors, 4G creates a warm community where girls can grow in their Yiddishkeit while building friendships with girls from across their communities.

The Queens 4G kickoff event was held at Top Notch Sushi on Main Street, bringing together girls from Central, SKA, Shevach, Sha’arei Zion, Hadar, Ohr Chana, and more. The evening gave girls the opportunity to meet their fellow 4G members from other schools, get to know the advisors and director, Miriam Gurell, and begin building the connections that will continue throughout the year.

The event was especially meaningful for the many ninth graders and other girls who were joining 4G for the first time. Each participant received a 4G journal, and the evening was filled with excitement and anticipation for the year ahead.

“It was amazing to meet girls from other schools,” one participant shared. “I’m so excited to have 4G as something to look forward to and as a support throughout high school. I can’t wait for everything we’re going to do this year.”

Coming just after the start of the school year and shortly before Rosh HaShanah, the kickoff set the tone for a year of learning, friendship, and growth. With such a strong turnout, 4G Queens is already off to an exciting start.
