The Yom HaAtzmaut program at Zucker Jewish Academy of Queens this year was truly something special. For weeks, our students prepared with excitement and dedication, especially in music class, where they worked hard to showcase what they had learned.
The program culminated in a beautiful and moving rendition of HaTikvah, filling the room with pride and emotion. In honor of the day, the students “became soldiers,” proudly receiving their Zucker T-shirts: symbolizing that, just like the IDF, we each have a role to play, and that together we are stronger. This message of unity and teamwork came to life through the mission-based activities each class received. Students eagerly followed clues, moving from station to station, working together, thinking critically, and having a tremendous amount of fun along the way.

The Krav Maga drills got everyone into top shape, instilling a sense of discipline and confidence. By the end, the students truly earned their “army tags” with pride. At the same time, the t’filah room served as a powerful reminder that our greatest strength comes from Hashem. The message was clear and beautifully received by all: While we put in effort and teamwork, we always recognize where our true strength lies. The program continued with a spirited tug-of-war game and a creative flag-making activity, allowing students to express their pride and individuality in meaningful ways.
