This past Wednesday evening, Yeshiva Tiferes Moshe presented its Holocaust memorial film project at the Young Israel of Queens Valley to the Queens community. The film documents the lives of three survivors of the Shoah, HaRav Moshe Walkin, Professor Asher Matathias, and Mrs. Blanche Fixler. Their stories and experiences were shared with 17 of the yeshivah's eighth graders.

Under the auspices of the Names, Not Numbers project spearheaded by Mrs. Tova Rosenberg, these talmidim learned how to use cameras and filming techniques under the tutelage of professional videographer Adam Chinoy, and interviewing techniques under journalist Mrs. Shoshana Soroka, editor and journalist of the Five Towns Jewish Home.

Kudos for an excellent job goes to Yehuda Davidowitz, Moshe Deutscher, Meir Moshe Eghbali, Yosef Yehuda Godick, and Yehuda Goldstein, who interviewed Professor Matathias. Akiva Chiav, Yoni Kaminetsky, Efraim Koenig, BenZion May, Yitzy Merdinger, and Nosson Pollack who interviewed and filmed Mrs. Fixler. Avraham Bachayev, Yehuda Feder, Yonah Machlis, Yehuda Roberts, Aharon Schnall, and Henach Wasser, who interviewed and filmed Rabbi Moshe Walkin, shlita.

The documentary stirred the emotions of those who attended the viewing; many commented how emotionally touching these survivors’ stories were. The yeshivah would like to thank all who attended and sponsored this event, and Young Israel of Queens Valley for hosting the premiere.
