Council Member James F. Gennaro is pleased to announce that last week, the New York City Council voted to pass Intro 0816, which suspends alternate side parking regulations on Tish’ah B’Av, a sacred Jewish day of mourning.

“I take great pride in being one of the Council Members to co-sign on this bill, recognizing the importance of accommodating the needs of our Jewish constituents during this important fast day,” said Gennaro. “This legislation will provide Jewish families with the valuable gift of time, allowing them to fully engage in their prayers and observances at their respective shuls without the added concern of moving their cars. I commend my fellow Council Members for their support in making this change, and I look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on the lives of those who observe Tish’ah B’Av.”

This decision reflects the spirit of unity and respect we so desperately need – especially during these trying times.
