Khal Adas Yereim of Kew Gardens, under the auspices of Rav Wolpin, the oldest son-in-law of the previous rav, HaRav Shlomo Teitelbaum zt”l, continued its decade-long tradition of hosting a community-wide Simchas Beis HaSho’eivah. In the beginning, it only attracted families from Kew Gardens and Richmond Hill, but more recently all parts of Queens (many from Kew Gardens Hills) have joined. Guests from Flatbush and from Lakewood also participated.
The shul distributed over 50 pies of Naomi’s Pizza and over 350 ice cream bars. The program included a raffle with many prizes, including $250 Amazon gift cards and a Ninebot electric scooter and the music of Rabbi Ophie Nat! Tickets for the raffles were given to all attendees, and additional chances were awarded to those who danced in a leibidik fashion.
For the adults, the shul raffled off a dinner for two at Hapisgah Restaurant on Union Turnpike. The Simchas Beis HaSho’eivah was organized by presidium members of the shul Heshy Greenberg and R’ Aaron Cyperstein. Additional organizers were Rabbi Aloni Russek, and Rabbi Chaim Schwartz.
During the year, Khal Adas Yereim hosts the neighborhood Pirchei and Avos U’banim learning programs. The shul is a center of many learning programs as well as other events, including free trips for community youth.
