An extremely inspiring and meaningful career readiness workshop, sponsored by Project Lead, took place at the Bukharian Community Center in Fresh Meadows, with the active participation of over 100 young women from the Bukharian Jewish community. Presenters included Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz, the first female District Attorney of Queens County, who spoke about her trailblazing empowerment and justice initiatives.
Other presenters included the inspiring Johanna Dashman, a Felony Trial Bureau Prosecutor and ADA; the dynamic Peyton Nir, a Felony Trial Bureau Prosecutor and ADA; Allison Deal, the talented Executive Director of the Jewish Community Council of Rockaway Peninsula; the dedicated Polina Abayeva, a speech and language pathologist; the creative Mazal Bababekov-Yusupov, a special and general education teacher; and the caring Angelina Abramchayeva, guidance counselor and teacher. The presenters spoke about their careers, their educational pathways, and the challenges of balancing a demanding career and family needs. Feedback from our program participants was extremely positive and uplifting.
