Parshat Vayechi opens as Yaakov Avinu approaches the end of his life, yet the parsha itself is filled not with endings, but with continuity. Yaakov gathers his children, blesses them, and anchors them to who they are meant to be. Even in galus, even before the geulah, he plants clarity, direction, and hope.

Chazal note that Yaakov wished to reveal the ketz, the end of days, but it was hidden from him. Instead, he gave his sons something even more powerful: brachos that define identity and mission. Each shevet receives words that recognize both struggle and potential. Yaakov does not deny their past, but speaks to what they can become.

For those saying Tehillim for others, Vayechi reminds us that tefillah is not only a cry from pain, but an act of continuity. When we daven for refuah, protection, or yeshuah, we affirm that this moment is not the end of the story. Like Yaakov, we speak hope into uncertainty and attach ourselves to a future we may not yet see.

Even in the final parshah of Sefer Bereishis, the message is clear: Am Yisrael lives, carries forward, and is never abandoned.
