On Monday evening, June 9, the Queens Jewish community joined together for a deeply moving evening of honor for wounded IDF soldiers, held at Tel Aviv Restaurant on Main Street in Kew Gardens Hills. The event brought together hearts, voices, and hands in unity to thank those who gave of their bodies and souls in defense of Am Yisrael and Eretz Yisrael.

Co-sponsored by Hatzolah of Queens and Great Neck, the evening reflected a broad communal embrace of hakaras hatov for Israel’s bravest. A number of esteemed Hatzolah members were present in solidarity, underscoring the bond between Jewish first responders here in New York and those who risk their lives daily on the frontlines in Israel.

From the outset, the atmosphere was electric with emotion and connection. Guests were welcomed with a lavish meat dinner, an enthusiastic house of supporters, and an air of reverence. Providing the musical heartbeat of the night were deejays David Eli Arshadnia, whose music struck the perfect balance between uplifting and respectful.

One of the evening’s most memorable moments came as two wounded IDF soldiers took the stage to share their personal journeys - testimonies of courage, faith, sacrifice, and hope. These were not just stories of injury, but stories of resilience and unbreakable Jewish spirit. Their words pierced the room, leaving many in tears and all in awe.

Adding to the evening’s impact was the presence of Yakir Weinstock of Boots for Israel, a grassroots organization known for providing vital gear and moral support to Israeli soldiers. His participation brought another layer of solidarity to the program, reinforcing the shared mission between American Jews and our brothers and sisters in uniform across the sea.

The program also featured stirring divrei Torah and reflections, tying together the soldiers’ sacrifices with the spiritual mission of Klal Yisrael and the power of communal unity. Attendees left with hearts stirred and souls elevated.

A special thank you goes to David Arshadnia, whose timely notification helped me spread awareness of this special initiative to our readership. With all event logistics handled by a team of volunteers, every dollar raised went directly to giving these heroes an evening of dignity, comfort, and love.

The message was loud and clear: Though miles may separate us, the soldiers of the IDF are never alone. From Queens to Yerushalayim, our support, pride, and gratitude remain steadfast.
