Elegant evening makeup can often be time-consuming and daunting! If you’d like to experiment with a bit of sparkle without looking excessive, the following tips can help you achieve that beautiful and radiant look.

Placing a highlighter in the inner corners of your eyes will elevate even the simplest makeup. By adding a bit of gold, the look is pretty without being overly dramatic. When you don’t have time or patience for a complicated eyeshadow look, a slight deposit of sparkle in that area will do the trick. You can use a small fluff brush to easily dust the shadow into the inner corners, or rather just use your pinky finger to press some pigment into place. If you’re not keen on placing shimmer in the inner corners, you can instead opt for some in the center of your eyelid, and on top of the Cupid’s bow.

Creams are easy to blend but if you prefer powder eyeshadow, you can minimize messy fallout as follows. Instead of using an eye primer from the get-go, try substituting a concealer as a shadow base. This will help shadow adhere to your lid and reduce fallout, because it’s more moist.  Shimmery particles gravitate better to a creamier texture. To better set the shimmer and prevent a mess, you can press a tissue or piece of transparent tape against your lids, in order to catch stray shadow particles. This will not ruin the look if you press gently. It’s similar to blotting lipstick so that it stays put and doesn’t budge easily.

You can also extend the inner corner sparkly color to your browbone, as an additional highlighter, which will lift and open the eye as well. Try using a bit of the same eye shadow to place on your lips as a topping to your lipgloss. It adds an unexpected and beautiful twist to your look.  You can either apply underneath or on top of lipstick for an added cushiony texture.

If you’d like to add some sheen to your face, try mixing a drop of liquid shimmer into your foundation before applying. This will create a dewy complexion. Then simply pat a bit of highlighter over your high points, such as the top of your cheekbones, tip of your nose, or along your browbone. Your complexion will not only look radiant, but the bit of shimmer will enhance your bone structure as well.

All that glitters is not only gold! You can opt for an off-white or pink highlighter to create the look as well. A bit of shimmer always goes a long way, so when in doubt, always remember that less is more.
