Rosh Chodesh Cheshvan brought lots of “rain” to the boys in Yeshiva Tiferes Moshe’s Early Childhood program. The boys gathered in the dining room and, together with Morah Ahuva, learned that during this time of year we daven for rain in Eretz Yisrael where there is no rain all summer long! The boys came up with many reasons why we need rain; from drinking water, to washing and cooking, they came up with a great list.
Although the skies outside were blue and sunny, inside it was “raining”! Using their fingers, hands, and musical instruments, the boys followed the instructions and began by making light drizzling sounds and then escalated the sounds into a full storm! This was a really fun, cooperative activity, with the boys taking turns and following directions.
Afterwards, the boys were divided into four groups, where they had a chance to decorate an umbrella shape using different water mediums. Their individual pictures with their beautifully decorated umbrellas are now decorating the front hall of Yeshiva for all to enjoy!
In conjunction with Parshas Noach, all the boys in the Early Childhood program had a fun and educational hands-on animal workshop come to their classroom. The Nature Company brought a few of their animal friends: a guinea pig, a tortoise, and a hen. The boys learned many interesting things about each of these animals, and then they had a chance to pet them. The boys really enjoyed this learning opportunity.
