In her continuing non-apology tour, Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar apologized to anti-Zionist sect Neturei Karta for ignoring their request for a photo-op. “In my effort to show that I’m not an anti-Semite, I’ve met with many Jews from the social justice community. They share my opposition to the Israeli financial occupation of congressional campaign accounts,” she said.
“I had no idea that there are authentic rabbis who have done so much already to delegitimize Israel in ways that no gentile could, because if I did what they’re doing, I’d be called an anti-Semite.”
Rabbi Ishmael Dovid Weiss, the press secretary of Neturei Karta, expressed gratitude at being recognized by Omar. “We haven’t met her yet, but she acknowledges that we exist. The right to exist is what this struggle is all about.”
