It certainly was a busy and meaningful week at Bnos Malka Academy. The school ushered in Rosh Chodesh Shvat by inviting Rabbi Mordechai Ginsparg, Menahel of the Bais Yaakov Academy of Queens, to speak to the middle school. Rabbi Ginsparg asked: Why did bas Par’oh even try to stretch her arm for Moshe in the teivah? There was no way she could possibly reach him. He explained that that is precisely the point: It is our job to do the most we can; it is our hishtadlus that can make all the difference.

Rabbi Michael Weichselbaum, Menahel of Bnos Malka, said, “Rabbi Ginsparg is an exceptional m’chaneich and it was a pleasure having him come and inspire our students. I am so pleased that our two schools are working together to benefit the children of our community.”

On Motza’ei Shabbos, at the annual parent melaveh malkah, Rav Aryeh Lebowitz shared divrei Torah and divrei chizuk. The director of Semikhah at RIETS (Yeshiva University) and the Mara D’Asra of the Beis Haknesses of North Woodmere, inspired the parent body. The rav emphasized the message of the tri-grouping of the makos of Mitzrayim (D’tzach, Adash, and B’Achav), which shows that the redemption was not through our wisdom, our wealth, or our might, but from HaKadosh Baruch Hu. So, too, b’ezras Hashem, it will be in the merit of our Torah learning, our t’filos, and our abundant acts of chesed that Hashem will grant us victory in this war and have the safe return of all of our hostages. Rabbi Weichselbaum remarked, “It is an extreme privilege to have one of the generation’s largest marbitzei Torah teach us and inspire us as only he can.”

Bnos Malka once again welcomed parents the following day, as the first graders received their first siddur. The very important milestone featured two beautiful student performances, treats, and lots of happy children and proud parents.
