MTA is proud to announce the launch of a new exchange program with Yeshivat Mitzpeh Yericho High School (Netivot Yosef), an award-winning Israeli institution recognized for the exceptional breadth, depth, and rigor of its programs in both Kodesh and Chol. The yeshiva’s strong educational vision and commitment to excellence make it a natural partner for a meaningful and immersive international learning experience.

Yeshivat Mitzpeh Yericho is known for setting a remarkably high standard in Torah learning. By graduation, students complete half of Shas b’kiyun, while also participating in a demanding and advanced general studies program. This balance of serious Torah learning and academic responsibility closely mirrors MTA’s own educational philosophy.

This year, six MTA talmidim have embarked on a one-month immersive experience in Israel as part of the program’s inaugural cohort. While in Mitzpeh Yericho, the students are fully integrated into the yeshiva’s daily schedule, learning in regular shiurim alongside their Israeli peers. In the afternoons, they continue their first-semester general studies coursework asynchronously, ensuring academic continuity while abroad. They also participate in hands-on general studies classes offered on campus, gaining exposure to Israeli classroom learning and instruction.

A key component of the program is meaningful chesed and community engagement. The students are actively involved in the local Mitzpeh Yericho yishuv, including providing English tutoring for younger children. These opportunities allow the boys to form real relationships within the community and to experience firsthand the values of responsibility, contribution, and service in daily Israeli life.

In addition, the program benefits from the involvement of local community leaders and educators who help facilitate connections and support the students’ experience. Among them is Uri Pilachowski of Nefesh B’Nefesh, whose wife serves as the mayor of Mitzpeh Yericho. His involvement helps connect key elements of the experience and offers students added insight into Jewish leadership, community building, and contemporary life in Israel. In addition to their academic and chesed commitments, the students will participate in educational tiyulim throughout the country, deepening their understanding of Israel’s history, geography, and society.

Beyond the classroom and community engagement, students participate in educational tiyulim throughout Israel, deepening their understanding of the land, its history, and its people. Shabbatot are spent both with host families in the yishuv and together with the yeshiva, creating powerful opportunities for spiritual growth and authentic connection to Israeli communal life.

This new exchange program reflects MTA’s ongoing commitment to creating immersive educational experiences that extend far beyond the classroom. By combining rigorous learning, academic responsibility, chesed, and meaningful engagement with Israel, the program offers students a true living classroom, shaping not only what they learn, but who they become.
