MTA’s freshman class traded the classroom for the great outdoors this past Thursday, spending the day hiking, playing sports, and enjoying time together with their rebbeim and classmates.
Blessed with beautiful weather, the freshmen took on the Van Slyke Castle Loop, enjoying the scenery while getting to know one another outside of the regular school-day setting. Along the trail, students participated in a variety of games and activities, including a spirited rock-paper-scissors tournament, with Danny Ehrenfeld of Brooklyn emerging as the champion.

The day also included a stop at 7-Eleven before the group headed to a Bergen County park, where the freshmen enjoyed supper and an afternoon of sports and recreation. Rabbi Balsam shared a d’var Torah with the students, adding a meaningful Torah component to a day centered on camaraderie and connection.

The annual freshman hike provided an opportunity for the newest members of the MTA community to strengthen friendships, connect with their rebbeim, and continue building the sense of brotherhood that will accompany them throughout their years at MTA.
