The spirit of Lag BaOmer was felt throughout the Yeshiva of Central Queens (YCQ) as students celebrated with energy and purpose on Tuesday, May 5. Elementary students in grades one through five engaged in a thrilling Color War at Flushing Meadows Park. These activities emphasized sportsmanship and teamwork, teaching students to compete with integrity. Upon returning to school, the building echoed with cheers that reinforced their shared educational journey.

The Junior High students also celebrated in the great outdoors, with the boys heading to Cunningham Park and the girls enjoying Flushing Meadows Park. These excursions provided a perfect backdrop for building friendships and practicing mutual respect. By taking education beyond the classroom, students learned the value of leadership and camaraderie in a supportive community setting.

Our youngest learners had their own exciting adventures as well. The kindergarten classes enjoyed a trip to the bowling alley, while students in our nursery, 3K, and 4K programs participated in creative “craft and tell” sessions. These activities allowed our smallest students to express themselves while learning about Lag BaOmer through hands-on discovery and social interaction.

The festivities concluded with a delicious school-wide barbecue in the yard, bringing everyone together to share their experiences. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make these memorable experiences possible for all our children.
